Ruoan laatu fosforihappois a clear, colorless liquid that has a sour taste and a strong odor. It is a weak acid with a pH of around 2.5. which means it is less acidic than vinegar. It is soluble in water and ethanol, but not in oils.

Food grade phosphoric acid is used as an acidity regulator in foods like jams, cereal bars, processed meats, cheese, etc. It is also used as an acidulant in the beverage industry to help keep a check on fungi and bacteria formation. It is used to acidify foods and drinks like numerous colas and jams. The food grade phosphoric acid 75%/85% is mainly used as an acid agent for seasonings, canned foods, refreshing beverages, and as a nutrient for yeast (a nutritional source for yeast during brewing, which can prevent the reproduction of miscellaneous bacteria)
