Description
Iron(II) sulfate heptahydrate, also known as this compound, is a blue-green crystalline solid with the chemical formula FeSO₄·7H₂O. It is commonly referred to as green vitriol or copperas. This compound is widely used in various industries, including agriculture, water treatment, and pharmaceuticals, due to its versatile properties.
Application
1.Water treatment
Ferrous sulfate is used for flocculating and purifying water, and removing phosphate from urban and industrial sewage to prevent eutrophication of water bodies.
2.Reducing agent
A large amount of ferrous sulfate is used as reducing agent, which mainly reduces chromate in cement.
3. Colorant
The production of a tannic acid inks and other inks requires ferrous sulfate. Ferrous dye is also used in wood dyed mordant.
