Description

2-Butoxyethanol is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H14O2. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet, ether-like odor. This compound belongs to the family of glycol ethers and is a butyl ether of ethylene glycol. It is widely used as a solvent in various industrial and domestic products due to its properties as a surfactant.

Application

It is mainly used as solvent for cellulose nitrate, spray paint, quick-drying paint, varnish, enamel and paint stripper. It can also be used as fiber wetting agent, pesticide dispersant, resin plasticizer, intermediate of organic synthesis. Reagent for the determination of iron and molybdenum. Improved emulsification performance and auxiliary solvent for dissolving mineral oil in soap solution.
